The session will culminate with an essential and engaging overview from Stefan Czerniawski, Executive Director for Strategy at The GDC, who will be giving delegates the latest updates and practical guidance for their professional practice.

Session One - Dr Bill Schaeffer
Bill Schaeffer is qualified in dentistry and medicine, has post-graduate qualifications in both dental and general surgery and is recognised as a specialist Oral Surgeon. He has been placing dental implants since 1996 and is experienced in a number of different implant systems. He is co-owner of two implant centres in Sussex, which focus purely on dental implant treatments. Bill was previously Director of Education for the Association of Dental Implantology (2009-2011).
AIMS
After placing implants for 26 years, I have made a lot of mistakes and I will share many of them with you.
- We will discuss what lessons may be learnt from these mistakes.
- To learn how to avoid making the same mistakes yourselves.
- To appreciate that we will all continue to make mistakes with implants.
OBJECTIVES
- To learn why mistakes in implants happen.
- To learn how mistakes in implants might be avoided.
- To understand that not everything bad can be avoided.
- To learn that dentists must all give each other the benefit of the doubt.
Session Two – Stefan Czerniawski, Executive Director for Strategy, GDC
The evening will conclude with an essential update from the General Dental Council, providing a clear overview of current regulatory developments, priorities, and what they mean for dental professionals in practice.
