WHY ATTEND
Lecture 1 - The 3+D planning (Planning, execution and reality) with Mr. Peter Bujtar
We are aiming long term optimal implant outcomes. The talk will be focusing on 3d planning, navigation vs guide vs hand free/brain guide and the validity of consent including complications
Literature review, case presentation and reflection using evidence based approaches, review of available techniques will be provided.
Each and every technique has pros and cons, learning curve, evolution which is often ongoing. Cost, time, liability and outcomes might be influenced, the nature of complications may varies based on the planning and the room for error is different.
We will summarise the techniques and their essences.
Lecture 2 - This lecture explores the topics around Trigeminal nerve injuries, aetiology and management with Professor Julian M Yates
Nerve injury is perhaps one of the most serious concern/complication in relation to implant surgery and more often encountered with oral or maxillofacial procedures. The incidence and significance can not emphasise enough.
Literature review and cases presentations will be used for demonstration. Risk assessment, option and alternatives will be explored.
Nerve and trigeminal nerve injury is a significant event / complication, not only the preparation but the management is critical.
Patient, surgical also procedural characteristics as age, medical fitness, environmental variables are among some of the factors to consider. The multitudes of options discussed and considered from the patient perspectives will provide the frame to our talk.

- Understand the principles of 3D implant planning and compare navigation, guided, and freehand approaches.
- Evaluate the advantages, limitations, and risks of different techniques, including impact on outcomes, cost, and complications.
- Recognise the importance of valid consent in relation to chosen techniques and associated risks.
Lecture 2
- Understand the aetiology and risk factors associated with trigeminal nerve injuries in implant and oral surgery.
- Recognise appropriate assessment and prevention strategies, including consideration of patient, surgical, and procedural variables.
- Evaluate management approaches and treatment options for trigeminal nerve injuries, informed by current literature and clinical case examples.
