Adam Bzeu, ADI NextGen Chair

After qualifying from dental school in Leeds in 2015, Adam has gone on to complete formal training posts in the UK in both Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery and Restorative Dentistry before holding posts as an Oral & Maxillofacial surgery clinical fellow and oral surgery specialty dentist. Since 2021 he has been committed to full time private practice.

Adam works between both Ireland and England and his practice is limited to dental implants and oral/periodontal surgery. His clinical work ranges from routine implant placement to full-arch rehabilitation and complex bone and soft tissue augmentation. He accepts referrals for implant treatments and grafting as well as oral surgical procedures. 

He holds a Master’s in Dental Implantology and a Postgraduate Diploma in Periodontics, and is soon to begin a postgraduate course in clinical education. He is also a member of the royal college of surgeons. 

Adam has undertaken extensive further training both nationally and internationally completing numerous courses in advanced implant surgery and grafting which is where his passion lies.

Successful implant treatment starts long before surgery. This session will explore comprehensive patient assessment, diagnosis and risk assessment, helping clinicians recognise which cases are appropriate to treat, which require additional planning, and when referral may be the best decision.

This lecture explores the key principles of implant treatment planning, focusing on alternatives to implant treatment, timing of implant placement, treatment sequencing, and prosthetically driven implant placement. It considers when tooth preservation may be preferable to replacement, how the timing of implant placement can influence treatment outcomes, and how different stages of care should be appropriately sequenced. Particular emphasis is placed on planning from the desired final restoration to guide optimal implant positioning and achieve predictable functional, biological, and aesthetic outcomes.

• Evaluate treatment alternatives decide when to preserve a tooth and when implant replacement is more appropriate.
• Select the optimal timing   understand the indications for immediate, early, or delayed implant placement.
• Plan treatment sequencing coordinate periodontal, endodontic, orthodontic, grafting, and restorative procedures effectively.
• Apply prosthetically driven planning use the desired final restoration to guide implant position and surgical approach.

Dr. Leonardo Mancini is a dentist and researcher with a focus on implant dentistry, reconstructive dentistry, periodontology, and peri-implant soft tissue management. He completed his DDS and PhD at the University of L’Aquila and pursued advanced research training at the University of Zurich and Harvard School of Dental Medicine. He subsequently completed postgraduate training in Reconstructive Dentistry and a Master of Advanced Studies in Implant Dentistry at the University of Zurich. Dr. Mancini has contributed extensively to research in implant dentistry, periodontal and peri-implant tissue regeneration, soft tissue augmentation, and digital diagnostic techniques, with numerous publications in international peer-reviewed journals. He is also an active international speaker, presenting on implant dentistry and soft tissue management at universities and scientific congresses across Europe.

A practical exploration of the surgical principles that underpin predictable implant outcomes. From anatomy and surgical planning to flap design, implant positioning and tissue handling, the session will focus on developing a systematic and reproducible approach to implant surgery.

An open, case-based session bringing together the Roadmap faculty to share the complications, difficult decisions and lessons that have shaped their own clinical practice. The emphasis will be on recognising problems early, understanding why things go wrong and developing the judgement to manage — or avoid — them.

Together, the four sessions provide delegates with a clear framework for approaching implant dentistry: choosing the right patient, planning the right treatment, delivering predictable surgery and learning from the challenges encountered along the way.
