09:45 Photogrammetry in Full Arch Implantology

The presentation begins with an overview of the evolution of current full arch restorative workflows, highlighting the challenges that needed to be overcome to integrate this protocol into daily practice.

In addition to the practical aspects, the presentation will incorporate a review of the most recent scientific publications on photogrammetry.

This examination of existing research will provide attendees with insights into the current understanding and evidence supporting photogrammetry as a viable technology for full arch implantology.

Crucially, the speaker will address important considerations that anyone contemplating the adoption of photogrammetry in their practice should take into account before investing in this technology.

Overall, this presentation offers a comprehensive exploration of photogrammetry in the context of full arch implantology. It provides a valuable opportunity for attendees to gain knowledge and understanding of the topic, enabling them to assess the potential benefits, drawbacks, and implications of incorporating photogrammetry into their own practices.

Learning Objectives

11:35 Using Anthogyr Smile in a Box to Make Everyone's Life Easier

The demand for simplicity, efficiency and organisation of implant surgery is becoming ever more critical, especially with many more implants placed than ever before. This is coupled with a trend of increases in dentists performing peripatetic implant dentistry. The outfalls that can result not only lead to the distress of the whole dental team but may replicate the classic Swiss cheese effect, resulting in never events and or disastrous patient outcomes. Smile in a Box by Anthogyr significantly helps to reduce this negative outcome. Smile in a Box is a more efficient and predictable way to plan and prepare implant placement and immediate load. This service allows the digital workflow to be streamlined and also allows us, as clinicians, to preplan the surgery and prosthesis virtually. This has the advantage of permitting clinicians to foresee potential surgical and prosthetic limitations and problems that may result before surgical intervention. Combining the data obtained from an STL file and Dicom files can predictably reduce chairside time and adjustments at the surgical and temporalization appointment. This case study provides insight into how Smile in a Box has changed clinical practice and helps provide a positive outcome for patients.

11:55 GreenBone - Advanced Approches in Bone Regeneration

There is an increasing demand in bone tissue engineering for immunomodulatory three-dimensional (3D) scaffolds that promote osteogenesis and modulate immune responses, by delivering bioactive factors. With the rapid growth of technology, tissue engineering offers the development of functional 3D-printed hydrogels modified with bioactive nanoparticles as carriers for stem cells that become the alternative therapy for autogenous bone grafting in dental and maxillofacial field (Gjerde C et al 2018). We know that age-driven immune signals cause a state of chronic low-grade inflammation and in consequence affects the potency of endogenous stem cells (Josephson AM et al 2019). This could explain the challenges facing surgeons while reconstructing critical-sized bone defects in elderly patients. These very often require bone augmentation using an autogenous bone graft, which is associated with clinical drawbacks, related to limited tissue availability, that increase patient morbidity and risk of infections at the donor surgical site. We developed bioactive nanoparticles with both osteogenic and anti-inflammatory properties which are derived from plants.  Results of this work have shown that plant-derived nanoparticles plays a role in the modulation of inflammatory response, both in vitro and in vivo, and promotes the initiation of bone formation in a critical-sized bone defect. These finding may have a crucial impact on bone repair process especially in elderly and osteoporotic patients.

Learning Objectives
  • Design of 3D scaffolds in bone tissue engineering

  • GreenBone - sustainable biomaterials for bone regeneration

  • Compromised bone healing in elderly and osteoporotic patients

16:20 Predictable Bone Grafting using Stabilised Titanium Mesh

Achieving a successful result when performing larger guided bone regenerations can sometimes be challenging. With the correct knowledge and tools this can be a stress free and highly predictable process. I will be discussing some of the basic principles required when grafting, and also more specifically, looking at an implant supported titanium mesh membrane (iGen). With the help of a case presentation, I will try to demonstrate the relative ease of using such tools in rebuilding the lost bone and how to prevent complications with correct suturing techniques.

16:40 Bone Graft in Implant Dentistry, Is There A Perfect Option?

Regenerative medicine has shifted the rehabilitation strategies from prosthetic to regenerative and hence from non-functional to functional outcomes. As bony defect is one of the most popular challenges that might be faced in implant dentistry, and since autogenous graft is considered the gold standard in bone grafting procedures, researchers have been working to develop other grafting materials that can be used easily and quickly avoiding any additional surgical procedures. This presentation will focus on showing the clinical outcome and the evidence-based research related to different bone graft materials currently available in the market.

Learning Objectives
  • To understand the physiological bone formation process

  • To be aware of the bone graft materials available currently
