09:45 Measure Twice, Cut Once: Redefining Full Arch Dentistry

We’re on the cusp of a whole new era in implant dentistry where “Guided Surgery” means so much more than just a surgical guide. Full arch dentistry is being guided out of the dark ages with modern methodologies focused on the bigger picture, encompassing a complete ‘’Guided Service’’ which includes specialised education, systemised data collection, detailed restorative planning, innovative guide design, guided conversion and simplified final restoration. As a result, we can create the most efficient and cost-effective, consistent, and safe solution for dentists and patients. Better planning leads to better results, with less chair-time, and even less time in court!

Learning Objectives
  • To introduce the concept of Fully Guided Full arch surgery using metal stacked guides.
  • To demonstrate a fully systemised workflow from data collection through to final restoration
  • To illustrate how technology combined with clinical knowledge and tailored education can improve patient outcomes

James Hamill

James HamillBrowne Centre.

James Hamill is Europe’s leading expert in the world’s leading full arch guided system, CHROME GuidedSmile, having successfully completed over 100 CHROME surgeries and provided training, mentoring and chairside support to hundreds of dentists across the UK, Ireland and Europe.

With over 20 years’ dental implant experience, James has established a reputation as one of the nation’s leading guided implant clinicians.

His pioneering work to transform full arch implant dentistry has seen him develop an enhanced fully guided solution which goes far beyond just the physical surgical guide to encompass case selection, case planning, chairside support and a full education programme.

He is a firm believer that guided surgery protocols offer a necessary and unarguable advantage for the patient, the surgeon, the restorative clinician, and the whole dental team, and ultimately elevates the quality of patient care to a level which should, and will, become the industry standard.

11:35 Guided Surgery - Is It Time to Move Out of The Stone Age?

The use of guided surgery for implant placement is a concept that has been around in implant dentistry for some time now. Despite the well-accepted notion of restoratively driven implant placement among clinicians, the wider acceptance of guided surgery, which I consider to be the pinnacle of restoratively driven implant planning and placement, has been slow to come. This presentation aims to make a compelling case for the adoption of computer-guided surgery in implant placement. We will discuss the myriad benefits of planning your surgery using virtual tools before operating on the patient, as well as the various clinical advantages of guided surgery. Finally, we will delve into the future of this rapidly evolving technology and its potential impact on the field of implant dentistry. It is time to move out of the stone age and embrace the future with guided surgery

Learning Objectives
  • How using guided surgery protocols can simplify all aspects of implant dentistry.

  • How planning your implant cases virtually benefits the surgeon, restoring colleagues (if different to the surgeon) and, most importantly, the patient.

  • How guided surgery can be used to improve patient safety.

  • How virtually planned and surgically guided implant placement is a powerful tool medico-legally.

16:20 Minimal Invasive Treatment Options in the Compromised Bone Without Sinus Lift and Bone Grafting

Treatment of the compromised bone, particularly in the posterior maxillofacial region and mandible can present a challenge, especially when conventional methods like sinus lift and bone grafting are not an option or not preferred. Fortunately, there are innovative and minimally invasive alternatives such as the placement of Pterygoid and Transnasal implants, Hybrid Plates are an option too.

Pterygoid Implants
Pterygoid Implants provide a solution for patients who have inadequate bone in the posterior maxilla. They are named after the pterygoid process of the spenoid bone, where they are anchored.

By engaging this region it´s possible to achieve effective stabilization of the implant, enabling them to bear the masticatory load. Pterygoid impalnts do not require a sinus lift or bone grafting. They reduce surgical time, as they may be used by immediate loading, or delayed loading.

Transnasal implants
Transnasal implants are another option when treating patients with atrophied maxilla without sinuslift or bone grfating. These implants are placed through the nasal cavity and engage the cortical in the nasal floor and anterior wall of the maxilla. Transnasal implants allow immediate laoding making them a convenient solution for patients who want to avoid multiple surgeries.

Hybrid Plates
Whenthere is no height of crestal bone specially in the mandible the Hybrid Plate may be  atreatment option. The Plates are placed in a special prepared bed in the bone  in order that the Plates can osseointegrate. The Plates are put in the retromaolr region of the mandible and are combined either with two piece convenitional implants or with One Piece Tissue level implants. Immediate loading or delayed loading is applied depending on the case. While these  methods are innovative alternatives for dealing with the problem of inadequate bone, it is essential to remember that each patient is unique. There it´s always important to consider all available options and tailor the treatment plan to the specific needs and circumstances of each patient.

Learning Objectives
  • Developing a comprehensive understanding of alternative approaches that may eliminate the need for sinus lift or bone grafting procedures

  • Understanding the principles behind minimal invasiveness options and exploring these approaches in treating the atrophied bone, we aim to provide patients with effective treatment while minimizing the impact on their bone structure.

  • Overall, our goal is to offer patients a more comfortable, efficient, and successful experience, sparing them unnecessary surgical interventions and enabling them to enjoy the benefits of fixed teeth within a relatively short timeframe.

Learning Objectives
  • To Demonstrate the use of Guided bone regeneration in the aesthetic zone

  • To provide the general dentist with long-term follow up of this technique

  • To discuss complications regarding this technique
