Day Two of a three day course designed to take general practitioners to a point where they are able confidently to place and restore simple implants using the Bicon Implant system. The placement and restoration of simple dental implants should be in the remit of the General Practitioner. However, like all dental treatments, we must understand when, where and how to use them and when not to. The course will focus on treatment planning as well as the operational side of treatment. The Bicon Implant is an elegantly simple device such that it allows the practitioner to place and restore with ease and safety. The fact there are no screws removes many of the surgical and restorative complexities and massively reduces the well known complications such as screw loosening and abutment fracture.
Aims & Objectives
Day Two Uncovering and restorative phase. This course is about dental implants of course but it is more than that. It is building a solid restorative and periodontal knowledge to know when and how implants should be used. Without proper training in treatment planning, assessing cases for high wear and periodontal susceptibility, the unaware will find themselves and their patients in trouble.
The participants should
be able to uncover their implants with relative ease (nothing is 'easy' but straightforward is OK)
understand how to make impressions or scan accurately for the final restoration
be able to understand how abutments are chosen and inserted
understand why the locking taper design is super to a screw connection
understand how bone heals around threaded implants and why finned implants are more suitable in limited bone
Event Content
Day Two
Observing implant uncovering, impression taking and the insertion of abutment and crown
More intense treatment planning of delegates' own cases
Explanation of restorative options and materials
Complications and Failure
Benefits
The Bicon System is simple and effective. The system has stood then test of time for 40 years. The implants are moderately priced and offer a cost-effective option with its short design and locking taper, friction fit connection. They are particularly useful for patients with limited bone volume, those looking for a minimally invasive procedure, and those who prefer a more affordable solution without sacrificing success rates. Learn how to use it!
