Meet the Board - Kristina Vaitelyte

Newly elected Technical Representative on the Association of Dental Implantology (ADI) Board, Kristina Vaitelyte, shares her experience of ADI membership, events, and her passion for dental technology, as well as why she is happy to be a part of the ADI Board:

“I first attended the ADI Team Congress in Edinburgh (2019) and was blown away by the lectures. Being a dental technician working in the field of implant dentistry, I feel it is important that I provide the best appliances I can so that dentists can offer their patients excellent outcomes. Being a part of the ADI so far has been great, and I am looking forward to connecting with even more people at upcoming ADI events. I have worked with the dentists who are currently ADI Board members, so I am excited to continue to work alongside them in a meaningful way, to influence decision making around dental technology, promote the profession, and learn from the very best in the field.

“ADI membership has been great so far, especially as they offer online courses which, as a mother of two young children, has meant that I have been able to continue to access education – this has made a big difference for me. I try to attend every Team Congress as these are fantastic events and I feel I become a better version of myself having attended. Most relevant right now are developments in software and technology, with world-renowned speakers attending to share their expertise. This makes Team Congress a great incubator to learn about the latest developments quickly, without the need to travel too far.

“I never imagined that the ADI would both enable me to learn and also make a meaningful impact, including by influencing policy and profession. Dental technology is a disappearing art, and it would be a shame for it to continue to diminish, as we see our numbers getting smaller around the globe. I hope that I will be able to bring people on board and show them how fantastic our profession is – this is a personal goal of mine. I love the profession a lot.

“My top tip for those who want to or already work with dental implants is to get involved in everything! Work in as many areas as possible, be a dental technician, be a ceramicist, take part in a bit of everything and be a part of the bigger picture.”
